Kuilima Cove

Just steps away from Ocean Villa 217, this small, protected beach is great for snorkeling and swimming. Umbrellas and cabanas can be rented through the hotel. Walking distance from Roy Yamaguchi’s Beach House.

Kawela Bay is a 20 minute walk southwest from Ocean Villa 217. It offers a sandy shore perfect for relaxing and swimming.

Not far from the beach is a magnificent Banyan tree that you can explore. If you walk along the beach to the center of the bay, you’ll find an entrance path to the Banyan tree. It has been used as a film set for “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Lost”, and “Hunger Games”.

Keiki Beach

Keiki Beach is a protected swimming hole, just a 15 minute walk northeast from Ocean Villa 217. Named after the Hawaiian word for “child,” this small beach is perfect for children of all ages to swim and play in.

Kaihalulu Beach can be seen from Ocean Villa 217. It’s a beautiful stretch of beach, great for long walks north of the condo.

Though not ideal for swimming, you can sometimes find monk seals and large sea turtles basking in the sand (please keep your distance.)

Malaekahana Beach

Pronounced “mel-ey-ka-hana”. Here you’ll find a picturesque beach cove & tropical woodland with a few picnic tables, a camping area, and restrooms. It’s usually an uncrowded beach and great location for boogie boarding. It’s a 10 minute drive north along the highway from the Ocean Villas.

Perfect for snorkeling, Shark’s Cove offers a protected area to observe local sea life. It has a small stretch of beach and limited public parking.

It is located right across the street from the Foodland grocery store and a variety of food trucks. It’s a 15 minute drive southwest from the Ocean Villas.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is a beautiful stretch of sandy beach, prime for boogie boarding and surfing. You can often find surf competitions being held here. As the name suggests, it’s a great spot for watching the sunset. It’s a 10 minute drive from the Ocean Villas.

Gorgeous bay with a pristine beach, big waves, and high profile surfing competitions. It is also known for its famous “jumping rock”. Great for swimming, snorkeling, and bodyboarding in the summer. Dangerous 30 foot waves and world famous surf competitions in the winter season. It’s a 15 minute drive from the Ocean Villas.

Banzai Pipeline

Banzai Pipeline is a top surf destination for experienced surfers. If you don’t surf, the beach is a great spot to sit and watch. Surf competitions are held here regularly. It’s a 10 minute drive from Ocean Villas.

Nicknamed Turtle Beach, this unique location is home to a population of Hawaiian green turtles that bask on its sandy shores during the day. Observe these gentle creatures from a safe distance, and watch them make their way through the rough waves that hit the beach. Volunteers are on hand to ensure that the turtles are not disturbed, and there are signs with information and rules.
